Mimmi Kotka heads to NUTS Karhunkierros

One of the best-known names in Nordic ultrarunning, Mimmi Kotka, will be joining NUTS Karhunkierros this spring.

The Swedish trail and ultrarunner has claimed victories and podium finishes in some of the world’s most iconic mountain ultras, including CCC, TDS and Lavaredo Ultra Trail. In Kuusamo, Kotka will take on the 34 km route, which marks an important step back into racing after a long rehabilitation period.

According to Kotka, the 34 km race at Karhunkierros will be her first race of the season and only her second race after a longer rehabilitation period. For her, the event feels partly like a fresh start — a way to rebuild, regain race rhythm and return to competition step by step.

Alongside the running itself, Kotka is especially looking forward to the atmosphere around NUTS events and the landscapes of Kuusamo. The Ruka region is already familiar to her, and her Finnish roots make racing in Finland feel particularly meaningful.

– The berries, mushrooms, small lakes, and lush green coniferous forests feel very much like home, Kotka says.

She also says she is looking forward to the long, bright northern evenings.

We’re excited to welcome Mimmi to Kuusamo and NUTS Karhunkierros.

See you on the trails 👣
